John McNair a Clothworkers’ scholarship student, received his MA in textiles at The Royal College of Art in
2016, after receiving a first-class BA (Hons) in printed textiles at Edinburgh College of Art. He is a material designer and design researcher based in London. His interdisciplinary practice focuses
on the intersection of design, materials, textiles and technology. His main interest is concerned with material practice, the creation and development of new innovative materials using
high-technology alongside traditional craftsmanship; the application of colour, texture and pattern, in combination with strong attention to detail and quality. John’s core methodology is the
implementation of design research and development through problem-solving, within the area of social sustainability with the aim of improving human well-being and livelihood.
